Katmai National Park, home to Grosvenor Lodge, boasts the highest concentration of protected brown bears in the world. As you might imagine, this allows for some great opportunities to view bears in their natural habitat during select times of our season.
Backcountry Bear Viewing
Numerous remote rivers and streams within a jet boat ride away from the lodge offer the potential to see bears. Many of these rivers and streams are rarely frequented by any other operations, making for a uniquely secluded experience in the Katmai backcountry.
Brooks Falls Bear Viewing
For maximum bear viewing potential, we can also arrange fly outs to our sister lodge, Brooks Lodge, located within walking distance of the legendary bear viewing at Brooks falls. As many as fifty bears live along the mile-and-a-half-long Brooks River, and guests are able to view bears from three elevated viewing platforms strategically positioned along the river.
