Our Reservation/Cancellation Policy (Updated)

In light of recent events, we understand that it is an uncertain time, particularly for those planning to travel in the near future. Because of this, we have amended our reservation/rescheduling policy in hopes of alleviating some of the concern for those of you who have made deposits for the 2020 season in hopes that you may feel more at ease.

For starters, we are changing our normal final payment due date from; Final Payment due 90 days prior to your trip, to; Final Payment due 30 days prior to your trip. We understand the decision to travel has become more complicated, it’s our hope this extension helps.

Also, for those of you who have booked trips with us this summer, we are allowing reservations to be cancelled for any reason, up to 30 days prior to the start of your trip, for a full credit of payments made, towards a future trip over the next 2 seasons. All credits will remain valid through September 2022. Regular booking terms apply.

If you have any questions regarding your reservation, please don’t hesitate to shoot us an email at info@grosvenorlodge.com or give our office a call at 1-907-243-5448.

Happy Holidays from Grosvenor Lodge

To close out 2019, Grosvenor Lodge manager and guide, Tim Mahoney, has put together a write up recapping our 2019 season at Grosvenor.

Take it away, Tim!

2019 Grosvenor Lodge Recap

I’d like to first say thanks to all that visited Grosvenor this past season. During the busy holiday season, I find myself thinking about those quiet days around the lodge. The heat wave and lack of rain kept things interesting throughout the summer. With high water temperatures throughout the region, we were forced to fish outside of the camp area more than usual. I want to thank you all for your patience and understanding for keeping the resources sustainable at Grosvenor.

We had a great start to the season with plenty of lake trout and rainbow trout in the narrows. Swinging bait fish patterns and stripping top water poppers produced big numbers throughout the month of June. The famous “trout boil” is truly an amazing experience you can only experience at Grosvenor. The American produced above average fish right off the bat. While the fish made you work for them with the high sun and low water levels, the rewards were big. The feeder creeks fished well but Rock Creek was the one we wanted to be at. I can honestly say it is hands down the best feeder creek I’ve been fortunate to fish in Katmai. Rock Creek shined when water temperatures were high throughout the region. Its cold water brought plenty of fish in, which had us hiking up into the mountain, picking it apart one run at a time.

Hardscrabble fished great when we were able to get a boat up the river. Nearby pike fishing, lunch by the Savonoski, and its pure beauty kept us heading that way to spend the day regardless. The pike pond produced some aggressive top water takes that had our hooting and hollering echoing throughout the Katmai wilderness. The wildlife viewing was spectacular, regularly seeing moose, wolves and of course, the famous bears. Having access to this is one of the many reasons that make Grosvenor a great place to be.

As fall approached, the fishing on the American really turned on, as the sockeye were plentiful. As they continued to drop eggs, the Char fishing turned on while the rainbow fishing just got better. The braids fished incredible day in and day out. The Narrows around camp was great come September. The lake trout packed a punch with their size and aggressive takes. Their colors complimented the fall colors of the trees around camp.

Looking ahead to the 2020 season, we have some prime available openings. It is going to be a great season and I hope to see many of you again. Come enjoy some more of Lindy’s great cooking and catch a few more trout with us.

Warmest wishes to all for the holiday season and Happy New Year!
